Infinity Pool - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Vinyl LP
Expected 10/23
Milan Records and Death Waltz Recording Co. are proud to bring you the soundtrack to Brandon Cronenbergâs Infinity Pool featuring a soundtrack by Tim Hecker.
Written and directed by Brandon Cronenberg, Infinity Pool follows a young, wealthy couple named James (SkarsgĂ„rd) and Em (Cleopatra Coleman), who embark on a lavish vacation at an all-inclusive resort. Guided by the seductive and mysterious Gabi (Mia Goth), they venture outside the resort grounds and find themselves in a culture filled with violence, hedonism, and untold horror. A tragic accident leaves them facing a zero-tolerance policy for crime: either youâll be executed, or, if youâre rich enough to afford it, you can watch yourself die instead.
Soundtracking the disorienting descent into madness is a surreal, ethereal soundscape from the mind of Canadian composer and experimental electronic musician Tim Hecker. With a resume of solo work spanning 10 studio albums, Heckerâs unique approach to ambient, electronic songcraft lends itself perfectly to the otherworldly, dystopian setting of the film. Across the albumâs 22 tracks, Hecker has crafted a sonic palette often rife with contradictions in sounds, the result of which is a collection that both emulates the alienness of the island and heightens the nightmarish story of hedonistic horror.Â
Of the soundtrack, composer Tim Hecker says, âWorking on Infinity Pool involved finding a speculative sonic palette for this imaginary island state. Part of this was working with the filmâs director Brandon Cronenberg to develop hybrid vocal synthetic sounds that were confusedly vintage and also possible future dystopian. This manifested also in developing a type of cicada-laden backwoods Baltic banjo that permeates the score.âÂ
