MONKEES - CHANGES Clear Red Vinyl LP
Expected: 2/27/26
1970 was a very interesting year for The Monkees. Their top-rated NBC TV show, which made them instant superstars in 1966 , was now being shown to millions of kids on Saturday mornings, and a whole new audience were now enjoying what their older siblings were hip to a few years previously.
The executives at Colgems Records knew that The Monkees were still a hot property for the label, and they convinced the principal hit making lead vocalists Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones to record one more album.
Released in 1970, âChangesâ was released and featured the double sided hit single âOh My Myâ and âI Love You Betterâ In addition, the final Monkees album for Colgems features their classic âAcapulco Sunâ which had also become a hit in Mexico.
More great Monkees fare includes Micky Dolenzâs âMidnight Trainâ, Davy Jonesâ âI Never Thought It Peculiarâ plus the rockinâ â99 Poundsâ and the soft rock Dolenz classic âTicket On A Ferry Ride.â
This was also one of the rarest Monkees albums for years, as it was immediately cut out a few months after the original 1970 release. But the music was really good and truly would become a classic many years later thanks to their reunion in 1986 and beyond.
Friday Music is no stranger to The Monkees, therefore we are very pleased to announce the 180 Gram Translucent Red Audiophile Vinyl release of âChanges.â Produced by Jeff Barry and Andy Kim, the LP is newly mastered by Joe Reagoso from the Colgems Records tapes.
To further enhance you Monkees experience, we are also featuring it a stunning gatefold cover, featuring the 45 sleeve and label images of the double sided hit âOh My My and I Love You Better.â
