During their whirlwind 1987 concert season, Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones and Peter Tork released their first studio album in over sixteen years called "Pool It!." A fantastic second single soon followed with Ian Hunter's "Every Step Of The Way" featuring the late great Davy Jones. Davy's supercharged performance was exceptional on this tune which was also turned into an equally hip video during their promotion and tour around this fantastic new album.

More great Monkees fare like "Midnight" With its Eric Clapton-like guitar fills, and "Don't Bring Me Down" both featuring Micky Dolenz doing his classic mix of R&B/rock vibes seamlessly, these tracks were truly highlights on this fine 1987 album. Davy Jones has equal share of greatness here with his work on "Long Way Home" and the great crowd pleasing ballad "(I'll ) Love You Forever." The late Peter Tork hits a high note with his rocker "Gettin' In" and delivers a solid performance on the quirky "Since You Went Away."

"Pool It!" was undeniably a treasure trove of new music from these superstars. It brought back the aura and feel of a newly reformed spirit of the 60's, which was truly needed during an era of youth-oriented one hit wonders and video star domination. It has been a sorely missed Monkees masterwork in the physical domain now for many years...that is until now.
